Heartsaver CPR and First Aid
The Heartsaver CPR course sponsored by the American Heart Association covers adult CPR/AED and can include First Aid. The certifications are good for 2 years. With or without the First Aid, cost is $65 each for a minimum class size of 3; smaller classes can be arranged. With the First Aid, class is 6-7 hours long; the class for just CPR/AED is 3 hours long and the card would only reflect CPR/AED. You will be given a book one week before class along with registration.
My class days are flexible so if a group needs another day or
wants me to come to their site, I will do so as long as they provide a TV and DVD player with remote.
Please let me know if you are interested.
I will need registration ($65) by 1 March. You will get your book for review at least 1 week prior to class. Class will take approximately 6-7 hours. Location will be Eagle River, more specifics to follow. Cards are good for 2 years (American Heart).
I am also taking names for those needing the Healthcare Provider BLS course. This is more hospital oriented and includes child and infant CPR. It does not include First Aid.
Please call Erin Smith-Cohen 694-3590 for more information.

Course Info:
Train with the founder of Lowe’s Orthopedic Massage system – a comprehensive approach to treating pain and injury complaints. In this course, explore exciting new concepts for upper extremity & neck disorders. Learn to think on your feet, dramatically expanding your skills with innovative hands-on strategies and creative new ways to think about treatment.
Learn Whitney’s secrets to high quality clinical work and stimulate your practice with the skills that keep your clients coming back. You will learn effective, proven treatments from across the field designed to address common pain and/or injury complaints.
Upper extremity disorders are a virtual occupational epidemic. Delve into assessment and treatment strategies for neck pain, thoracic outlet syndrome, tennis elbow, whiplash, shoulder impingement and rotator cuff disorders, carpal tunnel syndrome, numerous upper extremity nerve entrapment conditions, lateral & medial epicondylitis, and more.
Certification:
For those wanting to integrate advanced therapeutic massage into their practices or better understand the applications of Lowe's techniques, then certification is advised. In addition to both Hands-On courses, you will take an Online course where you will learn to "clinically think" about the 'hows, whys, and whens' of advanced clinical massage.
The importance of this additional online class should not be underestimated. Using real-life case studies, you will investigate pain and injury conditions, explore assessment options and protocols, develop professional soap notes, and create a treatment plan for your "client." This is a wonderful learning opportunity.
Lowe’s program emphasizes established orthopedic assessment methods that tell you how and what tissues are involved. You will also learn about numerous soft-tissue disorders, as well as have a refresher in anatomy, kinesiology, and biomechanics.
You will learn these key elements of Lowe’s system:

- Essential massage techniques for Orthopedic Massage
- Essential assessment techniques
