We had an excellent Annual Meeting on October 9 at the Providence Cancer Center. Special thanks to Jamie Elswick for hosting. The turn out was more than expected (about 25), but we need to do a better job on access from areas outside Anchorage. I will bring it up with the Board so we can develop better outreach during state-wide meetings. Speaking of outreach, if anyone from outside of Anchorage wants to take the initiative to "represent" AMTA at their location, please contact Natalee or me so we can work on providing you support for local education or other initiatives which you may have in mind.
We have a new Board of Directors with new ideas. Stay tuned as the Board develops their initiatives. Natalee's education program has really developed over the past month and there are some exciting formal and informal training opportunities coming up. Michael Henrich volunteered to be the Point of Contact for volunteer and special event activities; please let him know of any opportunities.
Keep checking in with the website. Laura is doing a terrific job with maintaining it to ensure our latest information is posted. Don't hesitate to send comments or ideas via the website email link, but please keep your correspondence positive and respectful. This is a critical moment for the Board as they take the initiative to improve services and support, so I want to keep them encouraged. They are all volunteers and are doing their best. If you have ideas for improvements, please consider stepping up to assist as ideas may not be doable without the committed assistance of additional people.
